BA in Preparation for Teaching (Single Subject)

The 英语 教育 program at 圣何塞州立大学 prepares the largest number of 英语 Single Subject Credential c和idates in the 南湾. 另外,菠菜网lol正规平台 英语 Subject Matter 程序 is currently the only State-approved program in the 南湾. The 英语 教育 program provides credential c和idates with the content 和 pedagogy to teach 英语 in middle 和 secondary schools.

学生 may enter the 英语 教育 program for the Fall or Spring semester. Each year the program prepares approximately 50 c和idates to receive credentials 用英语. 95% of students completing the 英语证书课程 are hired by area middle 和 secondary schools. 研究生s of the program teach in virtually every high school 和 middle school in the region.

One course equals 3 or 4 units. 英语 majors who complete the Humanities Honors 程序将被记入 英格兰125年 (European Literature: 首页r to Dante).

Teaching Credential C和idates 英语 majors working toward the 个专业证书 在英语中应该是 英语103 (Modern 英语) to meet the Language 和 Linguistics requirements 和 英语169 (Ethnicity in American Literature) to meet three units of the upper-division American 文学的要求. Consult a major advisor for additional requirements.

  • A Bachelor’s degree, preferably 用英语
  • Subject Matter Competency verified by an 英语 教育 advisor
  • A passing score on the California Basic 教育 Skills Test (CBEST)
  • Successful completion of an on-site writing sample
  • Successful completion of a formal interview (not to be confused with initial advising appointments), held once a semester, to assess subject matter competence (An interview packet must be prepared 和 submitted in advance)
