我们是谁

In 2014, the 菠菜网lol正规平台 校园社区花园 was established as a result of a student-led 倡议. The 花园 was created to provide students a space to gain access to healthy food, learn about sustainable organic 花园 practices and earn service learning hours.

目的

The 花园 is on a quarter acre of land and it includes multiple fruit trees, compost 灰水系统. The 花园 exists to provide the 菠菜网lol正规平台 students, staff, faculty, and the surrounding community with an opportunity to participate in food justice, accessibility to fresh and healthy food while engaging in cultural exchange and cooperation. While at the 花园, 菠菜网lol正规平台 members learn the ins and outs of a maintaining a small 花园. 菠菜网lol正规平台 members will learn how to harvest, prune, water and seed vegetable starts 以可持续和环保的方式. 花园志愿者是允许的 把一天工作后收获的农产品带回家!

Join us in the 花园 for our annual showing of The Biggest Little Farm, a heart-warming movie about regenerative agriculture in Southern California.

花园的可持续发展

The community 花园 is chemical free (organic) which means that we do not use any 农药或合成肥料. 此外，我们的花园是围绕 principles of permaculture and regenerative agriculture, meaning that we try to imitate 自然过程. In the 花园 we have over sixty different plant species from perennial fruit trees and flowers to annual vegetable crops. 我们的园林生态 是多种传粉者和生物的多样性吗.
We have our own composting 灰水系统 that allows us to reuse and reduce 我们的有机废物. Everything is incorporated into our 花园 again using sustainable 方法.

Next Generation: The 校园社区花园 Fellowship Program offers students an opportunity to dive into the topic of environmental justice efforts that ties into 学术性、交叉性和实用性. 在这个项目中，学生 will learn and network with experts in the environmental justice movements with a focus on intersectionality such as race, gender, class, etc. 此外,学生 will receive hands-on experience on how to include environmental justice practices  in their everyday lives through learning basic 花园ing and environmental justice 技能在校园社区花园.

• 学生 will gain a deeper understanding of environmental justice issues impacting marginalized 社区 through observation and learning from experts.
