可持续发展的未来 Curricular Community

在2020-2021年成功举办之后 大混乱, in celebration of the 可持续发展的未来 initiative, and in collaboration with 菠菜网lol正规平台的 可持续发展办公室, we invited faculty in the 人文艺术学院 to create robust 作业 and/or curriculum that engages with issues of sustainability. 十个作业是 selected from among all of the submissions to feature on the 可持续发展办公室 website with faculty each be awarded $200 professional development funds.

Given the last year in both the nation and the state of California, the question of what a sustainable future looks like is 一个 we all must face, and that the arts, design, and humanities are some of the best avenues to explore. 如何嵌入这些压制 questions about 可持续发展的未来 into your curriculum?

1. For your submission to be considered, you must schedule a 15-minute meeting with Katherine 哈里斯(见 办公时间 or 电子邮件 任命).
2. You may submit only 一个 assignment to the 可持续发展的未来 Curricular Community 考虑.
3. The assignment can be from a course you have or are currently teaching or a brand new assignment that you create specifically for this opportunity. 
4. Submission is required to use the assignment template (for ease of archiving and obtaining permissions). 
5. Your assignment must be accompanied by a brief contextualizing paragraph. 看到 pdf of the Google submission form to see the requested information.

How you interrogate the ideas inherent to the theme of 可持续发展的未来 into your assignment is contingent on your focus and discipline. 我们邀请您 大的梦想. We encourage you to create an interdisciplinary assignment that allows students to think broadly across this issue of sustainable futures. 如果你愿意合作的话 with a colleague in another department on an assignment, we encourage that! 交叉学科的 teams are eligible for $400 - each faculty member should submit his/her/their own version of the assignment that would be appropriate for his/her/their types of students.  

Your assignment might embed 一个 of our 2021-2022 engaging, community-oriented workshops, performances, talks, and art exhibits that addresses sustainable fire management, food scarcity, sustainable design, poetic renderings, sustainability and user interface design, climate visualization, poetic postcards, ecoacoustic series, and poetry as 环境正义(见 时事). 

Other considerations for your assignment:

• Include active engagement of students (见 CFD教学与学习 求助)
• Include clearly written instructions, context for the assignment, clarity of outcomes/goals, evidence in its role in scaffolding for students around the larger goals of the course (见 CFD通用学习设计 帮助材料)

• Any modality (for online courses or in-person courses) is acceptable

Because we think that the work and innovation that goes into creating new pedagogy and particularly pedagogy that brings together our college’s multiple disciplines around a theme needs to be recognized and shared, we have created a structure that will permanently archive your assignment in 菠菜网lol正规平台 ScholarWorks with a Creative 共享许可 in order to foster sharing and citation of your work in a format that can be shared globally (看到 2020-2021 faculty 作业 from 大混乱). For these reasons, we are requiring the use of the assignment template with a Creative 共享许可.
