当我大约20年前开始教书时，我非常自我意识. 我在课堂上的新权威还不觉得它属于我. I didn’t want to dress too “young,” undermining the little authority I felt, but I didn’t have money for a more serious wardrobe. 我几乎无法集中注意力听我的学生们在说什么，因为我正忙着为自己刚刚说的话感到尴尬. 我以为，当学生们咯咯笑或互相窃窃私语时，那是在说我. 

Luckily, as I gained experience and confidence over time, 我开始把自我意识放在一边，不再把自己当回事. In fact, I came to learn that when students were whispering, 他们经常互相帮助解读我在白板上的涂鸦. Has my Zoom screen frozen as I was making a weird face? Of course—because it happens to us all, and life moves on!

  • Hide the self view on Zoom. While you can turn off your video at any time, you also have the option to remain visible to others while hiding your own display. 在会议中不再盯着自己，不再被自己的表情分散注意力，这是一种解放!
  • Stop comparing yourself to others. 学术孕育竞争，但你不必买账. Celebrate other’s accomplishments, 要知道你有自己的优势，并且正朝着最适合自己的方向前进.
